Ready for her date and the dance.

Taylor with the love of her life.

She’s a pro at the boutineer.

Spring has been a long time coming, but the flowering trees have finally blossomed.

A beautiful night after a spring storm had passed.  Was out and thought the cherry blossoms looked cool in the lights.

We have tulips, too.

This tree is along the entry road to our subdivision. It is always quite distinctive when it has no leaves, but it really stood out today in the sun and with the fence decorated for Christmas.  And as should be abundantly clear from this picture we will not be having a white Christmas.

This is one of the great things about living in Loveland.  I usual the Little Miami River Scenic Trail several times a week to go for runs or bike rides. It is mostly in the tress, so it provides a sheltered running/biking area when it is hot plus you don’t have to worry about cars.  It is quite scenic and frequently I will see deer on the trail.  This isn’t the best picture as I took it from my bike with an iPod, still it conveys the general look and feel of the trail.

Here are a couple of other sites along the river/trail.

One of the many creeks the trail crosses over.

The trail passes under this bridge.

This is a late entry, but Alex and Taylor did compete at the Ohio 2011 High School State Swimming Championships this year.  This year was quite interesting as we had a major snow storm the morning of the prelims.  It snowed enough that all the local schools were closed, but the competition went on in the pool.  This was a particular problem for our girls who had a nerve racking 10 mile drive from the hotel. Their van got stuck repeatedly.  This resulted in them getting out and pushing the van and late arrival to the competition. That said, it did not set us up for the best results. Still the girls got in the pool and did their best.

Alex Dschaak: 100 Backstroke – 24th, 100 Freestyle – 14th

Taylor Dschaak: 100 Butterfly – 19th

They were both on the 400 Freestyle Relay that advanced to finals, but it was disqualified when one of the swimmers left the blocks too early on the transition.

Alex and Garrett went to Loveland High School’s 2011 Prom last night.  As a Senior this will be her last at LHS.  They went with a large group of people.  CLICK HERE to see a photo album with more photos of Alex, Garrett, and the group.

Recap of top swims for the Loveland High School swimmers at the Milford Invitational.

Today marks the official start of the season for Loveland High School’s Swim Team.  Alex and Taylor return after a very successful season last year. You can read about the expectations for the upcoming season in this Loveland Herald article: CLICK HERE

Here are Alex and Taylor with their medals from Districts (District swims qualify you for State) where they each made multiple trips to the award podium.

Alex returns for her senior year with goals to go out with her best season yet of high school swimming. After signing with Marshall University and being named a team captain she is ready for a great final season swimming for Loveland.  Highlights from last year include: 2-time All Conference 1st Team: 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 2-time All Conference 2nd team: 50 Free, 100 Back, All Conference Academic Team, 4 time Ohio High School State Swimming Championship finalist: 15th in both individual events (100 back, 100 Free) , 11th in 200 Medley Relay, and 6th in 200 Free Relay.

Here is a video of her 100 Back swim at Sectionals that kicked off her run to State:

Alex went into Districts as the #2 seed in the 100 Back swimming in the Championship heat.  This was her 1st time ever swimming in Championship Heat at Districts.  There is a lot of pressure as the announce all the swimmers and their top performances.

Taylor returns for her sophomore season after a very successful freshman season. Last year she was playing soccer into early November and really wasn’t in the water regularly until the soccer season was over, so she should be in good shape to build on what was a successful season: 3-time All Conference 1st Team: 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 100 Butterfly, 1-time All Conference 2nd Team 200 Free, All Conference Academic Team, 2 time State finalist (100 Fly – 14th, 200 Medley Relay – 6th).

One of the most exciting races of the season was the 100 Fly FAVC Championship swim where it was close as it gets for three swimmers at the finish.

They capped off the season swimming together on the 200 Freestyle Relay and Ohio High School State Championship where they finished 6th and made a trip to the award podium. It was a great swim and quite the experience to go to the podium and receive their medals from their gold medalist head coach Dan Ketchum.

It will be challenging to repeat that performance this season as one of their top swimmers graduated last year.  They will need someone to step and replace her.   Still I know both girls are looking forward to a great season and returning to State.
