Taylor and Maddie as we start our trip.

This weekend we went on a little excursion on the Little Miami River. One of the nice things about living here in Loveland is we are close the the Little Miami River which had over 30 miles of walking and bike trails and Lovevland Canoe and Kayak.  There are several options and we did the 5 mile trip with Tanya and I in a canoe and the kids: Alex, Garrett (her boyfriend), Taylor, and Maddie (Taylor’s friend) all taking kayaks.  You get your life vests, paddles, and stuff and then are bussed up river 5 miles. The launch point has a nice bridge for a back drop. The trip is quite scenic with the shore being very wooded and there is even a castle to be seen.

Everybody had a good time. There was some good natured splashing and attempted tipping of kayaks. Maddie was the first go in a completely unintentional tipping and then Garrett tipped Taylor.

Taylor got out and swam along side her kayak at one point. Apparently, she misses swimming already. In fact Maddie and Taylor got out and swam the butterfly part way down river. And then swam upstream against the current. It was funny to watch. Near the end Maddie was nearly completely submerged and stuck at one point, but she didn’t tip over.
